The Orwells have split up

Earlier this week, US indie outfit The Orwells were forced to cancel a series of live shows due to a number of sexual abuse allegations coming to light. Now it seems things have escalated, with the group announcing that they have "disbanded".

Taking to Twitter last night, the band posted the message, "The Orwells have disbanded", prompting yet more concern over the claims made against three of their members; Mario Cuomo, Henry Brinner, and Grant Brinner.

The band have denied the allegations already, posting the earlier statement, “We emphatically deny these baseless allegations brought as a personal attack against us. While callow altercations and vulgar language we’ve used in the past must be recognized and owned up to, the accusations of sexual assault are completely unfounded.”
