Paperwhite - 'Magic' EP

8/10

If you've ever wondered what Haim would sound like if they swapped their guitars for synthesisers, then you probably already have a strong idea of what to expect from Paperwhite. This New York-based duo have brought their dream pop sound to a more commercial appeal and delivered one of the most well-rounded and enjoyable EP's we have heard all year.

Despite coming from a notoriously cold part of the States, these two have managed to inject some much needed sunshine on their first official release and given us something to smile about through their own glossy pop sound. They have managed to create an EP full of focus and direction that shows that, even though they have only just begun with their career, they have already found their style and built on it with some exceptional songwriting.

If there is one criticism of this new material is that it lacks the diversity needed to keep from going stale, but with music this blissful and euphoric, you can forgive them for running away with their ideas.
