Peach Pit - 'From 2 To 3'

8/10

Since their incarnation, Vancouver's Peach Pit have always been a group in search of finding its feet. After the glorious and well-earned response to their standout debut album 'Being So Normal' in 2017, which was self-released by the band, they found themselves in major label company as Columbia opted to release their eagerly-awaited sophomore LP 'You And Your Friends'. But now they are at home on RCA as they deliver their third studio album 'From 2 To 3', a record that looks to refine the sound they have been pursued since they first emerged.

Despite clear nods to the bright and bouncier aesthetics within the indie-pop scene, Peach Pit always seem to prefer a more relaxed approach to the direction, giving 'From 2 To 3' a fresh yet familiar feel that brings their enticing sound to life. With its almost folkier elements, largely down to the calming vocal performance of frontman Neil Smith, their newest endeavour has this wonderfully distinctive vibe that fills itself with a laid-back guise throughout. Occasionally reaching back into their infancy for inspiration, this new collection is one of their most forward-thinking releases to date, showcasing some beautifully invigorating songwriting in the process.

Peach Pit may well still be firmly within the cult status realm, but 'From 2 To 3' shows that they have the confidence and songs to become one of the most talked about bands of this year. There is something genuinely exciting about their work here, something we know we will be coming back to again and again.
