Dutch indie collective Personal Trainer have shared their new single ‘Tyres Skid’, offering one final preview of forthcoming album 'Human Assholes' before its release on the 4th September via Bella Union.
Following ‘Punch Drunk Love’, ‘Moping’ and ‘Hole’, the new track finds the band embracing their most unabashedly anthemic instincts. Frontman Willem Smit cites Simple Minds’ ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’ as a major inspiration, with the song channelling the kind of enormous, instantly memorable chorus built to be shouted back from a crowd.
Smit describes ‘Tyres Skid’ as potentially the finest song he has written, with its larger-than-life approach bringing the album’s recurring ideas around heartbreak into particularly vivid focus. Its unusual title, meanwhile, was lifted from the subtitles of The Batman.
