Peter Bjorn And John - 'Endless Dream'

7/10

Since first forming way back in the year 2000, Peter Bjorn And John have watched as the world changed around them. While their are endless events and moments that could define the time in which they have been a band, people will always call back to their 2006 breakthrough hit 'Young Folks'. But rather than take success early on in their career and run with it, they used their newfound fame to springboard themselves until this very day as they celebrate the twentieth anniversary of their formation with their ninth studio album 'Endless Dream', a record that looks to bring some light back into our lives.

Much like their output throughout their time together, 'Endless Dream' looks to act as a small but powerful dose of sunshine that can bring out the joy in almost anyone. The group have always managed to deliver a flair for this kind of material, but there seems to be this underlying knowledge that things in the world are not as they should be, and so there is a distinct understanding that those listening may not be their brightest selves right now. So rather than pursue a sappy and hollow celebration of life, they fill each single with this feeling of uneasiness, making for a far more relatable listen in the process.

This new collection certainly makes for a more diverse and eclectic journey than the preview cuts would have suggested. 'Endless Dream' is without a doubt a joyful and uplifting album, but with the odd moment of despair and pondering thought thrown in just to make sure we aren't taking these euphoric moments for granted.
