Throughout the last decade or so, we have been inundated with new artists looking to mould and shape the conventional pop sound to their own whim. And while many of these acts like Billie Eilish, Self Esteem, and Pale Waves have found enormous success within that field, it has also broken down barriers for newcomers like Phoebe Green, who has also been a slow but firm riser within the alt-pop scene of late. And with a flurry of fresh and inventive cuts to her name already, she now looks to cement her sound with her eagerly-awaited debut album 'Lucky Me', a record that sees her spread her creative wings like never before.

While she has found a home within the alt-pop ideal of late, her work on 'Lucky Me' feels far more experimental and diverse than we were ever expecting. Although there remains the odd nod to her formative material throughout, much of this new collection plays with atmospheric textures and spoken word interludes that add a sense of progression to her music from start to finish. Almost every cut feels like a surprise as it plays, giving this new release a brilliantly fresh and imaginative flow that showcases her as a brilliantly innovative artist, brimming with unconventional potential.

While the album occasionally falters until its own weight from time to time, 'Lucky Me' is largely a bold and refreshing offering from an artist that deserves a much bigger seat at the table. Phoebe Green has been riding a wave of buzz throughout the last few years, and her debut record certainly fulfils plenty of those heady expectations.
