Plants And Animals - 'Waltzed In From The Rumbling'

7/10

Returning four years after their last full-length outing, Canadian indie rockers Plants And Animals have returned with their fourth studio album, 'Waltzed In From The Rumbling'. Having found themselves hugely popular on their home turf, the trio are aiming for a bigger audience from their latest effort, which may explain a few of their obvious influences on this new release.

Opening up with the clearly Radiohead inspired 'We Were One', the record instantly peaks your interest with a moving collection of blissful yet driven singles. As it plays, it creates this wonderful mood throughout, conjuring up imagery of laid-back sunny days in a public park. It has this serene quality to it that allows it to become a full-bodied album where each song compliments both the preceding and proceeding one.

While it may not the most imaginative of releases, 'Waltzed In From The Rumbling' is professional and cohesive in its production. Enjoyable and pleasant from start to finish, the record will certainly give them more of a presence on these shores.
