Trying to pin down the sound of Pumarosa was always a tough ask, but since the band themselves described it as "industrial spiritual", there isn't really a better way to say it. With an obvious influence from the trip-hop scene as well as Radiohead, their new full-length 'The Witch' aims to bring together their work of the last few years and complete a retrospective example of the band's current interests.

While it does still have that mix of ideas that stops it from becoming a fully succinct record, the result is still overwhelmingly powerful. With the vocals of frontwoman Isabel Munoz-Newsome delivering a performance that manages to blend Bjork and Kate Bush into one hybrid individual, their musical direction manages to create a balance of uplifting and brooding compositions that give the release an enjoyable ebb and flow within its pace.

In seems that 'The Witch' has its own confidence that transcends the band's own experience. The growth and development we can hear on this record usually doesn't appear in a band's repertoire until well into their tenure, giving us great hope for them in the future.
