Sea Foam Grey - 'Machine In Flames'

8/10

Over these last few months, French-Dutch newcomers Sea Foam Grey have been quick to establish themselves as one of the more immersive additions to this year's post-punk scene. With their initial offerings 'My Love Is Wild' and 'Machine In Flames' delivering some brilliantly emotive moments to their tantalising direction to date, the four-piece have found themselves as one of the more exciting names on the rise right now. And with that buzz continuing to build, they are now looking to cement their legacy to date with their hotly-tipped debut EP, also called 'Machine In Flames', a collection delivers more of that dynamic aesthetic they have been crafting for themselves.

Featuring both of their previously unveiled gems alongside three new delights, 'Machine In Flames' makes for an instantly impactful listen. Following in the footsteps of Interpol and Editors with its naturally brooding appeal, their latest outing finds them in a brilliantly riveting guise as they move with a subtle elegance across all five tracks. Cultivating this beautifully tender yet powerful texture as it plays, Sea Foam Grey are introducing their distinctive sound to the fold with a brilliantly passionate debut EP here.

Things may still be in the early stages for them right now, but 'Machine In Flames' shows they are brimming with plenty of fresh and captivating ideas just waiting to be unearth. Delivering one truly absorbing effort another, they are certainly ones to keep a firm eye on for the months ahead as well.
