Seafret - 'Tell Me It's Real'

7/10

Having spent the entirety of last year building their name and reputation, acoustic duo Seafret have started 2016 with their long-awaited debut album 'Tell Me It's Real'. Filled with familiar singles such as 'Wildfire', 'Ocean' and 'Atlantis', 'Tell Me It's Real' aims to paint a picture of what Seafret stand for as a group. And from the initial listen, it seems like they have made good work on their short career thus far.

While their sound so far has been largely a humble and low-key presence, 'Tell Me I'm Real' does occasionally attempt to bring the pair out of the smokey cafe and onto the festival main stage as the bold production on tracks like 'Missing' and 'Skimming Stones' give the record an extremely diverse feel and keeps the focus of their sound forever fresh and exciting. Though it is not very groundbreaking in this approach, their dynamic execution of flow and pace is what keeps this record alive from start to finish.

A confident and accessible debut from this new pair. Their buzz to date is fully confirmed on this new release and while it still has the odd teething problem, we can be sure that this is only the beginning for these two.
