sixten - 'Misemotional'

8/10

Ever since breaking through with their much-loved debut EP 'Chance Of Rain' in 2016, Swedish sibling duo sixten have sought a broader and more emotive direction than many of their peers. Exploring this rich and alluring texture in the years since, the pair have found themselves riding a wave of acclaim, most notably for their 2019 hit single 'Slip'. And with another heady run of releases under their belts in recent months, they now return with their long-awaited sophomore EP 'Misemotional', a collection that continues that progressive nature of theirs.

Continuing to venture towards that passionate aura they have cultivated over the years, 'Misemotional' finds them in a beautifully refined and renewed spirit. Featuring the previously shared gems 'Ocean In Me', 'Thrown Down' and 'Living Comes With Dying', this vibrant six-track offering delivers some of their more spellbinding efforts to date. Moving with this subtle elegance from start to finish, the duo are looking to build a brighter and more captivating aesthetic this time around, one that truly elevates their immersive direction so far.

They have continued to be one of the more passionate names doing the rounds, but 'Misemotional' shows they are still very much on top of their creative game right now. Embracing some wonderfully emotional moments as it plays, sixten remain a solid addition to the bustling Scandinavian pop scene right now.
