Slow Season - 'Westing'

8/10

Following on from last year's self-titled sophomore album, Slow Season look to continue their prolific form with the release of their next full-length 'Westing'. Much like their previous releases, this new material takes its inspiration from the likes of Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath in creating a familiar yet fresh sound in the process.

As the band themselves have been very much on the lower end of the popularity spectrum over the last few years, the quality of their production has suffered. But this new record seems a lot more professional and as a result their riffs and performance has come through a lot better, showing exactly what this band should sound like. Each track has been finely honed to deliver maximum effect and as a result, they have created their most cohesive record to date.

Fans of the classic rock sound will definitely appreciate this as they seem to have tapped into that progressive nature of once-famous outfits and created an almost tribute to their direction. It has just as many slow and winding tracks as balls-out anthems, creating a diverse and eclectic collection.
