The Stanford Family Band share new single ahead of forthcoming EP

Brighton quartet The Stanford Family Band have announced their forthcoming sophomore EP 'Go Again', arriving July 17th via Krautpop Records. To mark the news, the band have shared new single ‘Feeding The Beast’, offering the first glimpse into their latest collection of sun-soaked, vintage-inspired pop.

Drawing on the melodic instincts of classic songwriting while carrying the charm of the C86 era, ‘Feeding The Beast’ captures the group’s knack for creating nostalgic yet distinctly modern music. Built around shimmering guitars, lively percussion and instantly memorable melodies, the track channels the warmth of The Beach Boys alongside the contemporary retro-pop approach of The Lemon Twigs and Drugdealer.

The new single finds The Stanford Family Band embracing a fuller, more expansive sound, with layers of instrumentation and analogue production bringing a sense of familiarity and nostalgia to the recording. Speaking about the track, Laurence from the band explains:

“Feeding the beast was a really fun one to write and record, I wrote it last summer and then we cut it live really soon afterwards which is a rare thing for us, we added a wall of guitars and tambourines after. I was listening to a lot of XTC and power pop stuff at the time and really wanted to capture that classic Rickenbacker jangle as so many of our favourite records have done in the past.”

'Go Again' sees the band continue to explore the golden eras of pop songwriting, expanding their sound with influences ranging from Karen Carpenter and CSN to Big Star, Nilsson and McCartney. Produced by Harry Hayes (Spotted Horses), who also contributes to the songwriting throughout, the EP balances intricate arrangements with a warm, understated approach.

Following appearances at Bristol Sounds, Wanderlust, Deadfest and The Alternative Escape, as well as tours supporting Love and Bananagun, The Stanford Family Band have quickly established themselves as one of Brighton’s most exciting emerging acts.

The band will celebrate the release of Go Again with a hometown show in Brighton on July 17th.
