Sunflower Bean share new single 'There's A Part I Can't Get Back'

Ahead of the release of their bold new album 'Mortal Primetime' this Friday 25th April, Sunflower Bean have shared one final and deeply personal preview: 'There’s a Part I Can’t Get Back'. A raw and emotionally charged track, it sees frontwoman Julia Cumming deliver one of her most direct and vulnerable performances to date, unpacking the lingering wounds of grooming with clarity, rage, and purpose.

Built on a foundation of searing instrumentation and grounded by Cumming’s unflinching vocals, the song tackles the complex aftermath of trauma—not with resolution, but with fire. “This song is about the lasting scars of grooming—the parts of yourself that are stolen and the anger you carry because of it,” she says. “I didn’t want to write a song about being healed, I wanted to be angry about needing to heal at all.”

The track’s standout lyric—“If I die before I wake, I pray the Lord lets me get even first”—cuts to the heart of the record’s themes, capturing a visceral need for reckoning. “It came to me in such a raw and direct way, there was no second-guessing,” Cumming explains. “These feelings go beyond logic. I am confronting the pain and the questions that will never be answered.”

Accompanied by a striking music video directed by Harv Frost, 'There’s a Part I Can’t Get Back' sees all three members standing in solidarity, supporting one another through disorientation and recovery. It’s a powerful visual and sonic moment that underscores the deep emotional core of 'Mortal Primetime'.
