These New Puritans have released their powerful new single "A Season In Hell', alongside a striking music video directed by longtime collaborator Harley Weir and starring acclaimed actor Alexander Skarsgård. The release comes in support of their eagerly awaited new album 'Crooked Wing', out 23rd May via Domino.
Described by the band's Jack Barnett as featuring “two pipe organs, two sopranos, and two hundred drums,” the track conjures an industrial, mythic landscape inspired by Piranesi’s etchings of imaginary prisons. “It’s vast, inhuman machinery—chains, pulleys, molten iron,” he says. “And somewhere in there, a little human. Barely visible.”
The video pairs Weir’s haunting visuals with a magnetic performance by Skarsgård. “He’s high risk, totally controlled, otherworldly,” says George Barnett. “It was the perfect match for Harley’s world.”
'A Season In Hell' is the third single from 'Crooked Wing', following 'Bells' and 'Industrial Love Song' featuring Caroline Polachek. With collaborators ranging from Polachek to jazz bassist Chris Laurence, the album promises to be TNP’s most ambitious yet.
