Tigercub - 'The Perfume Of Decay'

7/10

When Brighton-based trio Tigercub released their breakthrough debut LP 'Abstract Figures In The Dark' back in 2016, it was greeted as one of the more impactful rock records of that year. Riding off the back of a wave of fellow British outfits also taking the country by storm, they quickly established a sound that was both distinctive and euphoric throughout their earliest years. And after breaking a five-year hiatus to deliver their explosive comeback collection 'As Blue As Indigo' in 2021, they return once again with their powerful third album 'The Perfume Of Decay', a record that looks to take those anthemic ideals to even higher heights.

Now signed to Loosegroove Records, the label co-founded by Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard, 'The Perfume Of Decay' instantly comes across as one of their most raucous releases to date. Jam-packed with killer hooks, a thunderous atmosphere, and adventurous production from beginning to end, it feels like they have slipped into their new imprint with a style and finesse that brings a whole new level of energy to their sound. Brimming with an innovative direction throughout, they are certainly looking to make this offering a truly memorable listening experience.

While it does follow very much in the same vein as 'As Blue As Indigo', there is still plenty of fresh innovation running the length of their newest collection. Very much back into the swing of things since their sophomore LP, 'The Perfume Of Decay' is another glittering entry in their ever-evolving catalogue to date.
