When the New Jersey-based duo emerged with their brilliant debut single 'Hologram', Tiny Cities established themselves as one of the softer and more endearing names to arrive so far this year. Coupling these warm and heartfelt folk-pop textures with a progressive approach to both songwriting and production, the pair have been quick to make their mark as true innovators on the rise right now. And with that release barely out of the wrapper, they are now cementing their impactful legacy to date with the release of their debut EP 'The Wind Can Be So Cruel', a collection that heightens what their initial effort offered up with.

Building upon that rich and emotive aesthetic they are starting to get a reputation for, 'The Wind Can Be So Cruel' has this beautifully arranged flow running through it. With each of the duo taking turns as lead vocalist across all four tracks, the EP gives off this wonderfully eclectic presence as each song looks to capture a broader and more distinctive approach to their chosen direction. Whether they are pulling on our heartstrings with 'Red Flag Warning' or capturing a more sombre atmosphere for 'Should Have Known Better', Tiny Cities already have a strong and confident grasp over their sound here.

It may still be very early days for their tenure right now, but 'The Wind Can Be So Cruel' already has such a majestic appeal that belies their years so far. Oozing with such vibrancy at every turn, Tiny Cities are quickly becoming one of our favourite new arrivals for 2025 with this one.
