LA rock innovators White Denim return with the announcement of their thirteenth studio album '13', set for release on the 24th April. Marking two decades since the band’s inception in Austin, Texas, the record promises another fearless exploration of genre, threading together elements of rock, funk, dub, soul, blues, and psych into a groove-drenched, high-voltage mix.
Leading the charge is new single '(God Created) Lock And Key', a blistering slice of psychedelic funk-blues that pairs sharp social commentary with explosive energy. The track arrives alongside a gripping new video directed by O’Connor Hartnett. Frontman James Petralli describes it as “a Beefheart / Sun Ra sort of thing,” tackling themes of power, generational trauma, and survival.
'13' finds Petralli reflecting on life, family, and artistic purpose, weaving together influences as wide-ranging as Stevie Wonder, Caetano Veloso, The Gap Band, and John Cale. Original members Josh Block and Steve Terebecki rejoin the fold, alongside a dynamic cast including Owen Pallett, Jesse Chandler, and members of Dawes.
