You Fool! - 'What's The Meaning Of This?'

7/10

When they first broke through on their initial collection 'hello Armageddon' in 2022, Washington DC's You Fool! quickly established themselves as one of the more alluring names on the rise. Combining broad and emotive soundscapes with a distinctive indie-rock agenda, the band have spent the years since turning out a wealth of dazzling delights, all building upon their immersive foundations so far. And after another heady run of releases throughout the last few months, they are now looking to cement their dynamic legacy to date with the release of their eagerly-awaited debut album 'What's The Meaning Of This?', a record that sees them spread their creative wings further than ever before.

Mixing up a blend of instrumental and traditional anthems as it plays, 'What's The Meaning Of This?' makes for a broad and wondrous addition to their ever-evolving catalogue to date. Matching the same soaring endeavours they have earned a strong reputation for in recent times, this new fourteen-track collection makes for an incredibly sprawling and adventurous listen as they look to add a more varied and diverse direction to their already infatuating aesthetic to date.

These last few years have certainly been a busy and prolific time for them, but 'What's The Meaning Of This?' shows they are still very much on top of their creative game right now. Oozing with this fresh and exhilarating approach to their sound once again, You Fool! remain one of the more impactful names on the rise right now.
