What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

I was heavy into the guitar when I was younger but I just couldn’t stick with practising consistently enough to actually get any good at it. The first piece of kit I fell in love with was probably FL studio. I must’ve spent at least 8 hours a day for like 2 years making hip hop beats to start with, before starting to find my sound a couple of years in. Since then I’ve started learning the piano which really has been a massive deal to my production.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

Growing up my parents had all kinds of music on. A lot of indie and alternative stuff — bands like Bombay Bicycle Club, Foals, and The xx but also electronic Jon Hopkins, Burial & Bonobo, crazy looking back now! I think the first album I fully fell in love with was ZABA by Glass Animals. It was the first time I was like the production in this is crazy.

What was the first album you remember owning?

I looooved Todd Terje’s ‘It’s Album Time’ album in 2014 & for my birthday when I was 16 my brother got me the album on vinyl. Svensk Sas is an unbelievable tune, if you haven’t listened to it please do.

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

Loud Places by Jamie xx. That track is just... perfect.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

I tend to avoid working anywhere that’s at a desk. I find setting up properly at a desk sometimes feels too much like I’m working, even when I’m in the studio I always find myself on the sofa with my headphones on.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

I’m obsessed with Loyle Carner’s new single & can’t wait for that album to come out. Also anything Chloe Qisha is making is soooo good.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Bonobo. Would be the most meaningful one to me and my family - it was the staple of electronic music growing up. Such a legend.
