ARTIST OF THE WEEK: No.562 - DM Arthur

With the release of his stunning new EP 'Fire & Soap, Pt. 2', Glasgow’s DM Arthur continues to mark himself out as one of Scotland’s most quietly compelling songwriters. Fusing the introspective delicacy of Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell with the modern emotional weight of The National and Bright Eyes, his sound feels both timeless and acutely of the now.

Arthur’s journey so far has been anything but ordinary. From demoing tracks in a Manchester cotton mill to co-writing in Los Angeles with Stuart Price, and even touring Europe as a teenager with a school jazz band. That rich tapestry of experience shows in his music: subtle, intimate, and full of quiet cinematic detail.

He’s already caught the attention of BBC Introducing Scotland, Amazing Radio, and even Grey’s Anatomy, which featured his track Sun Is Gone in its season premiere.
