Johnny Marr has shared ‘It’s Time’, the latest track from his forthcoming fifth solo album 'The Age Of Everything', due on the 2nd October via BMG.
Expansive and urgent, the new single finds him turning his attention towards corruption, political frustration and the temptation to become cynical about the world. Rather than allowing that disillusionment to dominate, however, ‘It’s Time’ channels it into something considerably more optimistic, pairing its socially conscious message with bright guitars and an anthemic sense of momentum.
Marr describes the track as an attempt to find “defiance, in idealism”, encouraging listeners to remain engaged rather than retreat into apathy. The song received its live radio premiere on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, while its accompanying video captures footage from Marr’s sold-out homecoming performance at Manchester’s Castlefield Bowl.
