Romance is easy to write about when everything still feels electric, but 'Static' is more interested in the point after that, when the signal starts dropping out.

Jaymin’s second EP of 2026 takes the warmth of 'Sweet Nothings' and deliberately complicates it. Across eleven tracks, the Seattle artist sits with distance, mixed signals, regret and the uneasy work of trying to keep a relationship intact once the easy part is over.

Standout ‘Proud’ captures that especially well. Produced by Hollywood Cole and Ayex, the track turns accountability into something smooth but unsettled, with Jaymin confronting the damage that mistakes can do when two people are trying to stay connected.

But by the time ‘Red Eye’ closes the EP, the mood has changed significantly. Orchestral flourishes and plush R&B production give the track a more cinematic lift, but the real shift is internal. After spending so much of the EP second-guessing everything, Jaymin finally sounds decisive.

Following the more romantic glow of his previous material, this project feels like a smart progression. Jaymin is still writing about connection, but here he's far more interested in what love demands once idealism gives way to effort.

Vulnerable, polished and emotionally restless, 'Static' finds Jaymin at his strongest when things are least certain.
