Belfast noise-makers Makeshift Art Bar continue their rapid ascent with the release of blistering new single ‘Discipline’, the latest preview of their forthcoming 'Marionette' EP, arriving on the 26th June via Heist or Hit.
Fresh from a European tour alongside Chalk and a string of standout Irish performances, the quartet have earned a reputation as one of the most uncompromising new acts emerging from the underground. Their sound is a volatile collision of post-punk, industrial noise, grunge, hardcore, and experimental rock, delivered with an intensity that feels both chaotic and meticulously controlled.
‘Discipline’ finds the band at their most confrontational. Built around mechanical rhythms, distorted electronics, and a suffocating sense of tension, the track explores the psychological consequences of propaganda and the loss of personal morality within systems of power. Rather than offering easy answers, the song forces listeners to confront uncomfortable realities head-on.
Produced by Gilla Band’s Daniel Fox, the single channels the abrasive spirit of industrial music while maintaining the band’s uniquely visceral approach. Every element feels sharpened to a point, creating a relentless sonic assault that mirrors the song’s themes of indoctrination and personal reckoning.
Following the acclaim surrounding previous single ‘Chocolate’, ‘Discipline’ further cements Makeshift Art Bar as one of the most daring and inventive guitar bands currently operating in the UK and Ireland. With Marionette just around the corner, the band appear poised to take an already impressive rise to another level entirely.
