Beyond The Midwest - 'The Comeback'

7/10

Throughout the last few years, US artist Beyond The Midwest has been quick to establish himself with a wealth of vibrant delights. Channelling a distinctive emo-inspired aesthetic that blends perfectly with his modern pop sensibilities, his tenure to date has been this wildly explorative one that looks to build upon everything that has come before. And after a full year since his last piece of material, he now makes his eagerly-awaited return to deliver his eagerly-awaited debut album 'The Comeback', a record that cements his dynamic legacy to date.

With lyrical prose that look to adopt a diverse mix of introspective emotions, such as progress, setbacks, reflection, and triumph, 'The Comeback' makes for a wonderfully rich and immersive listen from start to finish. Taking cue from his initial material and blending it with this varied and inventive approach to both songwriting and production, his first full-length sees him returning to the fold with some of his more absorbing efforts to date. Whether he is looking to conjure bold and anthemic energy or something more heartfelt, Beyond The Midwest always manages to deliver something truly captivating at every turn.

It has certainly been a great time for his innovation and self-discovery these last few years, but 'The Comeback' shows he is still brimming with plenty of fresh and exciting ideas in which to explore. With such a firm and focused approach to his direction throughout, he is definitely one to keep a firm eye on for the months ahead as well.

Beyond The Midwest's debut album 'The Comeback' will be available to stream from the 16th December.
