Blonde Redhead release new single 'Rest Of Her Life (Choir Version)'

Blonde Redhead return with 'Rest Of Her Life (Choir Version)', the latest single from their forthcoming reimagined LP 'The Shadow of the Guest', a dreamlike reworking of their acclaimed 2023 album 'Sit Down For Dinner'. Out digitally on June 27 via section1, the album is also available to pre-order on vinyl.

Featuring the ethereal voices of the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, this new version transforms the poignant original into something hauntingly beautiful, suspended between grief and transcendence. As with their recent reworking of 'Before', the choir lends a spectral glow to the track, turning it into a meditation on loss, innocence, and rebirth.

“I wrote this song for my horse, Harry, two days after he left for the other realm,” says Kazu Makino. “It has been an extended season of loss for me, and the world, but the Brooklyn Youth Chorus naturally inject life, hope and strength back to the song. I felt as if they pulled me out of the mud.”

'The Shadow of the Guest' promises more unexpected turns: from a mariachi-inspired rendition of cult hit 'For The Damaged Coda' (best known for its appearance in Rick and Morty) to ambient ASMR reworks that push the band’s sonic curiosity even further. It’s a surrealist’s companion piece to 'Sit Down for Dinner', a collection of reimaginings that lean into nostalgia, vulnerability, and Blonde Redhead’s fearless experimentation.
