Deaf Havana - 'All These Countless Nights'

6/10

The last few years have been extremely good to Deaf Havana. Despite very humble beginnings, their third studio album 'Old Souls' became their most commercially success release to date. With a number of sell out tours ever since, the band are now ready to release its long-awaited follow-up 'All These Countless Nights', which from the off seems to find the band continuing the sound of their previous release.

Over the last few years, there has been a trend of contemporary rock acts looking to revert back to their original sound, whether it be an attempt at nostalgia or simply running low on original ideas. But Deaf Havana are sticking to their guns on this one, and looking to rekindle the same passion that made their previous full-length such a success. Yet while there are a few standout tracks on this release, there seems to be a lot of filler throughout, making it a very two-sided release.

Tracks like 'Trigger' and 'Fever' certainly jump out at you from the moment they start, but for many other works on here, they seem to have relied to much on that basic modern rock formula that just doesn't seem appropriate when we can hear genuine creativity on parts of this record.
