Death Cab For Cutie announce new album 'Asphalt Meadows'

Following on from the release of their highly-praised 2018 LP 'Thank You For Today', Death Cab For Cutie have now announced their plans for a new studio album, arriving later this year.

The new full-length 'Asphalt Meadows' will become their tenth record to date, is being previewed by the new lead single 'Roman Candles', and is set to be released on the 16th September via Atlantic Records.

Speaking about the new offering, the band said, “‘Roman Candles’ is about the crippling, existential dread that goes hand in hand with living in a nervous city on a dying planet. And that the only way to be in the moment is to let it all go.”

While frontman Ben Gibbard added, “The lyrics were cobbled from a couple of different songs dealing with my general sense of anxiety; the feeling that the fabric that weaves a functioning society together was crumbling during the pandemic.”
