Death Cab For Cutie's Benjamin Gibbard announces 'BANDWAGONESQUE'

Following on from his band's return in 2015 with their latest album 'Kintsugi', Death Cab For Cutie frontman Benjamin Gibbard has now announced his plans for a new cover album, a reimagining of the classic 1991 LP from 'Teenage Fanclub'.

The new record, stylised as 'BANDWAGONESQUE', has seen Gibbard completely rerecorded and produce the seminal 12-track release as part of Turntable Kitchen’s “SOUNDS DELICIOUS” monthly vinyl subscription service, and will be available digitally via Canvasback Music/ Turntable Kitchen following its limited edition release. The vinyl will also include an exclusive bonus 7" vinyl including covers of Alex Chilton's 'Free Again' and Beat Happenings' 'Bad Seeds', both of which were covered by Teenage Fanclub on a 7” vinyl released shortly after their release of 'Bandwagonesque' in 1992.

Speaking about his new release, Gibbard said, "Turntable Kitchen approached me last summer about being part of their Sounds Delicious Vinyl series and I was excited about the idea of covering an album in its entirety. 'Bandwagonesque' is my favorite record by my favorite band of all time. It came along at a pivotal time in my musical life and I've loved it for over 25 years. It's been such a blast taking these songs apart to see how they work and then putting them back together again.”

'BANDWAGONESQUE' is due out from the 28th July and you can check out the lead single 'The Concept' in the player below.
