Dutch Mustard shares new single 'Life'

Dutch Mustard, the alt-rock project of South London’s Sarah-Jayne Riedel (SJ), returns with 'Life', a punchy and emotionally charged new single that marks a striking shift in energy and tone. Released via DM Records, the track lands just ahead of Dutch Mustard’s highly anticipated UK headline tour this August.

Unlike the dreamier textures of previous material, 'Life' charges in with lean, propulsive drums and a sharp, restless urgency. Co-written with Dean James Barratt (Alewya, Rag‘n’Bone Man) and Craigie Dodds (Gorillaz, Sugababes), the track feels both raw and controlled, a tightrope between spiralling chaos and clarity.

Lyrically, 'Life' confronts the slow-motion wreckage of heartbreak with disarming honesty. “It’s about the kind of breakup you almost knew was coming,” SJ says, “but when it hits, everything feels too loud, too fast — you just want to hit pause.”

The accompanying video mirrors the tension of the track, fusing the grit of a London indie night with bursts of perfectly choreographed release, dancing through the breakdown, quite literally.
