After eight years since their last studio album, Eagles Of Death Metal are certainly looking to make their grand return as rowdy and raucous as they've always been. The ever-playful duo of Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme has always divided opinion amongst those who aren't sure how to take their unique position amongst the desert rock genre. But like them or lump them, there is plenty to enjoy on their new release.

Opening with the brilliantly excitable 'Complexity', it is clear that 'Zipper Down' is going to be one hell of a ride. And while much of it does stand up to its ferocious beginnings, the record does suffer some serious lag about halfway through. It does manage to continue saving itself time and time though, especially with their brilliantly reworked cover of Duran Duran's 'Save A Prayer', but this album really is a mixed bag to say the least.

With a great number of enjoyable points, you could say this is a brilliant return, but it does occasionally let itself down as well. Which I guess makes this return even more like the "love em or hate em" attitude people have always had. Welcome back boys.
