Eric Kehoe - 'Indications'

8/10

After first emerging with his self-titled debut album back in 2012, Detroit-based artist Eric Kehoe seemed to disappear just as quickly as he arrived. With the comeback single 'Haunt Me' released the following year, it would be a full decade before he reemerged on the scene, turning out a wealth of impactful gems in just a few months. And with his triumphant return now back into full swing, he looks to cement his revived presence with the vibrant new EP 'Indications', a release that looks to explore a diverse multitude of ideas.

While his influences make for a very eclectic read, with the likes of Neil Young and David Bowie set against Jeff Tweedy and Stephen Malkmus, 'Indications' feels like a far more distinctive listen than anything we can compare to his inspirations. Branching away from a driven indie-folk aesthetic to explore a flair for broad and atmospheric production at every turn, this new five-track collection a wildly adventurous release, brimming with fresh and tantalising innovation throughout.

Dabbling with a fun and flamboyant swagger as well, 'Indications' quickly cements him as one of the more exciting names to return so far this year. His bold and engaging persona doubles as the release's most infectious point, giving Eric Kehoe a sound that he can truly call his own.
