Few artists balance emotional vulnerability and cinematic storytelling quite like Caroline Alves. Born in Brazil and now based in Switzerland, the singer-songwriter has spent the last few years establishing herself as one of Europe’s most exciting alternative pop voices, blending elements of pop, soul, jazz, and electronic music into a sound that feels uniquely her own.
Following a Swiss Music Award win, performances at major festivals, and support slots for global superstars, Alves returns with her latest single 'Innocence', a striking reflection on youthful love, vulnerability, and the beauty of believing in something wholeheartedly before life teaches you otherwise.
So with the new single out now, we sat down with her to find out more about her origins and what has been inspiring her most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
The piano. I actually wanted to learn how to play the piano first but it was too expensive for me and my family. Now I know how to play a little bit.
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
I really loved rock music. I started learning how to play the guitar with songs by Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Pepper, The Beatles. But also pop music, of course.
What was the first album you remember owning?
I remember the first album I bought was Monkey Business by The Black Eyed Peas. I really loved their music!
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
Back to Black by Amy Winehouse
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
I always try not to think too much. And also, I like writing with images. So, I will choose a mood, or some pictures from Pinterest, for example, and I’ll write about them. About how they make me feel.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
I’m a huge fan of Lady Gaga’s work and I’ve been listening to “Mayhem” for months now!
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
If I have to choose to open for a “modern” artist, I’d say Raye.
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
It’s when I see my music touches someone. If they can relate to my music. But also, concerts in general for me are the most rewarding part about making music.
And what is the most frustrating part?
It’s extremely unstable!
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
It’s not advice I’ve received directly, but when I opened for Coldplay, Chris Martin gave an interview that day and he said something that really touched me : “It’s just music. Have fun, it’s just music”. And since I heard this sentence, I’m really having fun and I’m more excited than scared.
