Since first emerging back in 2016 with her breakthrough debut album 'Probable Depths', artist and producer Nandi Rose aka Half Waif has always been one to find a new and exciting avenue to take her music. Usually opting for a broad and atmospheric production behind her distinctly folk-focused direction, we have watched her grow and evolve over the years, creating one vivid collection after another. And after barely a year passing since her last effort 'The Caretaker', she is back once again with her fourth full-length 'Mythopoetics', a record that continues that enticing sound.

Although she has very rarely been one for fanfare, usually opting for smoother and more solemn aesthetics within her music, 'Mythopoetics' is a far more diverse listen than we are used to from her. Regularly breaking out of her formative guise in pursuit of something more intrinsic and shimmering, this new release sets itself up as a bold and euphoric return. The sound of Half Waif has always been one filled with captivating layers to it, but this time we see her in a far more adventurous light, working with a melee of eclectic instrumentation that perfectly fits her rich and ethereal intentions.

She has certainly set herself up as a prolific artist, now knocking out her fourth studio album in five years, but it seems that she needs that constant momentum to move onto her next batch of ideas. 'Mythopoetics' is a strong and driven release that continues the blissful path that she seems reluctant to give up on.
