Brighton five-piece Isla Rico release their new single 'Smell The Roses', a soaring indie anthem that captures the band at their most authentic.
Released on November 7th via Regent Street Records, the track sees founding members Callum Richards and Jasper Whitehead teaming up with producer Matthew Fisher (The K's, Dirty Blonde) to craft their most ambitious sound yet. Drawing from influences like The Verve, Sam Fender, and New Radicals, 'Smell The Roses' blends shimmering guitar work with driving rhythms and an irresistibly nostalgic melody – the kind of track built for festival crowds and late-night reflection in equal measure.
Having already earned praise from BBC Radio 6 Music's Chris Hawkins as "the best of new indie Britpop", the band are now ready to push their sound to new heights.
"For us 'Smell The Roses' is a new beginning as a band," they explain. "We wanted to be authentic to ourselves lyrically and instrumentally. Back to our roots, plugging our guitars in and capturing how we sound live and sharing our message no matter how sh*t the world can feel at times."
Fresh from a sold-out show at YES Manchester, Isla Rico are proving that heartfelt, guitar-driven indie still has plenty to say.
