Joy Crookes shares new single 'Perfect Crime'

South London’s Joy Crookes has unveiled her new single 'Perfect Crime', the latest glimpse into her forthcoming second album 'Juniper,' due on the 26th September. Co-produced with Harvey Grant, the track finds Crookes stepping into her power with swagger and style, drawing on the metaphor of a Western standoff to deliver a defiant, self-assured anthem about re-entering the dating world. “It’s basically me giving myself a pep talk,” she explains.

'Juniper' follows her 2021 debut 'Skin', a record that earned BRIT and Mercury Prize nominations, charted Top 5 in the UK, and established Crookes as one of the country’s most singular voices. This time, Crookes deepens the emotional palette with stripped-back writing and production from Blue May, Tev’n, and Harvey Grant. Guests include Vince Staples on the bold 'Pass The Salt' and Kano on the tender 'Mathematics'.

Described by Crookes as a more “visceral” and self-contained project, 'Juniper' explores queer love, mental health, industry double standards, and self-worth with candour and soul. It’s a record that balances emotional gravity with rich musical textures, and reaffirms Joy Crookes as an artist unafraid to bare it all.
