Metallica added as first Reading & Leeds headliner

Despite nearly nine months to the day until the Reading & Leeds festivals return to the summer schedule, the first headliner announced for next year's event will be Metallica.

The announcement was made by Zane Lowe on his Radio 1 show last night (25th November), and also came with the news that Jamie T, Pierce The Veil, Wilkinson, Refused, Run The Jewels and Manchester Orchestra would also be playing at next year's event.

This will be the fourth time Metallica has played at the festivals and the first time since 2008, with Lars Ulrich of the group commenting, “We are obviously beyond thrilled to be returning to headline the magnificent and mighty double shot at Reading & Leeds... We are practically the house band. Bring it!”

Tickets for both sites are now on sale via SeeTickets here, and for more info, visit either www.readingfestival.com or www.leedsfestival.com
