N.W.A. biopic gets the green light

While the world still waits on tenterhooks about whether the 2Pac biopic will ever get made, there is some good news for fans of 90s rap artists as Universal Pictures have now given the green light to an N.W.A. biopic, entitled 'Straight Outta Compton'.

The Compton-based rap crew, that launched the careers of Ice Cube, Eazy E and Dr Dre, has been set for an August 2015 release and will be directed by F. Gary Gray, best known for his work with Ice Cube on the smash comedy Friday.

N.W.A were one of the leading voices in rap music that alerted the world to the wider problems of being a black man living in Los Angeles and used music to break down people's perception of people who lived in the ghetto.

'Straight Outta Compton' will star O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell as the three main rappers and has a US cinema release of 14th August 2015 with a UK release still pending. Now have a listen to the film's title track below.
