Rag'n'Bone Man - 'Human'

6/10

He has been the name on everyone's lips over the last few months, but after the huge chart success of his 'Human' single earlier this year, Rag'n'Bone Man now takes on the first big milestone of his career by releasing his highly-anticiapted debut album. And if you found yourself drawn to his rich and soulful voice, prepare to swoon forward for this debut full-length.

Opening with his hit-record, the album 'Human' seems to simply be an extension of the formula and style used on this initial single. The record very rarely strays from this bold and anthemic sound, which works extremely well when you consider the strength of his voice, but makes very little effort to move out of its comfort zone. With its sombre pace and continued use of a background choir, you will find it difficult to distinguish one track from the next.

In the end, this is simply another take on the pop-soul revolution that we have sporadically seen over the last few years. And while 'Human' is still a very enjoyable album in its own right, its lack of challenging material leaves it lacking the strength his voice is suggesting.
