Rhye - 'Blood'

7/10

After first exploding onto the scene with their incredible debut album 'Woman' back in 2013, the ethereal RnB outfit Rhye have been seldom seen almost ever since. Over the last few years, frontman Milosh has found himself collaborating with a whole host of acts and only returned with original material from the group last year. And after dropping a load of singles from this release, the group now unveil their long-awaited sophomore LP 'Blood'.

As previously said, much of this record was released in single form throughout last year, spoiling some of the surprises inside this release. But nevertheless, the reality of being able to experience their work as they intend us to hear it makes for a throughly enjoyable trip. With Milosh's incredible vocals creating this soft yet haunting feel throughout, the album ebbs and flows with pace, creating a nice juxtaposition of direction that keeps your attention from start to finish.

It may not be the glorious, full-on return we were expecting but as an album with a lot to follow up, it still holds itself well. Tracks like 'Feel Your Weight' and the opener 'Waste' remain solid favourites and show that Rhye still have plenty to offer in the future.
