Sam Fender delivers new single 'Remember My Name'

Sam Fender shares another powerful glimpse into his forthcoming album 'People Watching' with the release of 'Remember My Name', accompanied by an emotionally charged video.

The video, directed by Hector Dockrill, stars fellow Geordie and I, Daniel Blake actor Dave Johns, who delivers a heart-wrenching performance depicting love, companionship, and the inevitable pain of loss. The video also features actor Philippa Briggs alongside the Easington Colliery Band, a historic brass band from the North East of England, who also lend their sound to the track itself.

Speaking about the song, Fender shares, ”‘Remember My Name’ is a love song dedicated to my late grandparents – they were always so fiercely proud of our family, so I wrote the song in honour of them, from the perspective of my grandad who was looking after my grandma when she was suffering from dementia.”

“The video is a really special one for me, I’d like to thank everyone involved.”

In support of the song’s themes, Polydor Records has made a donation to the Utley Foundation on behalf of Sam Fender in support of their Music for Dementia campaign, which advocates for the integration of music into dementia care, recognising its life-changing impact on those affected.

'Remember My Name' is the final track to be shared from Fender’s third studio album 'People Watching', ahead of its release this Friday 21st February. It follows the title-track, as well as 'Wild Long Lie' and 'Arm’s Length', further showcasing the raw emotion and storytelling that define the new record.
