Teenage Fanclub - 'Nothing Lasts Forever'

7/10

Ever since they first emerged with their breakthrough debut LP 'A Catholic Education' back in 1990, Teenage Fanclub have cemented themselves as one of the more consistent names in the indie-rock field. Turning out a wealth of rich and shimmering releases throughout their three-decade tenure to date, there has barely been a moment that they've lost track of their vibrant momentum. And with the band proving just as innovative as ever, they now return with their twelfth studio album 'Nothing Lasts Forever', a record that continues those progressive ideals once again.

Arriving in the wake of their stunning comeback offering 'Endless Arcade' in 2021, 'Nothing Lasts Forever' looks to build upon the more whimsical nature the band have taken in recent years. Still very much adorned to their origins of soft and woozy guitar-rock, this new collection sees them in a renewed spirit as they wistfully move from one sweeping effort to the next, harnessing a beautifully arranged composition as often as possible.

While they may not be turning out the hits as much as they used to, 'Nothing Lasts Forever' still makes for a wonderful warm and embracing listen from start to finish. With their humbled direction the heart of this new release, Teenage Fanclub show that there is still plenty of creative fire burning within them.
