Tristan Turdean – '5 SONGS TO GET OVER YOU'

7/10

Tristan Turdean looks to break down the entire anatomy of heartbreak with his ambitious new EP '5 SONGS TO GET OVER YOU'. The nu-age pop-punk artist invites us into the wreckage to feel it all: the doubt, the rage, the desperate clinging, and eventually, the long walk toward closure. It’s a raw, hyper-charged journey through the grief cycle, built on emotionally exposed lyrics, unflinching vocals, and production that balances grit with polish.

Rather than easing us in, Turdean hits hard and fast. Early tracks swing with the kind of angst that defined early 2000s emo, think 'Take This to Your Grave'-era Fall Out Boy meets the glossy self-awareness of more recent acts like Waterparks or KennyHoopla. Every snare hit and vocal yelp feels surgically placed, not just to evoke chaos, but to help make sense of it.

While each song tackles a different emotional checkpoint, it’s the finale, 'Leave You In The Past', that lingers longest. Where the rest of the EP lunges and coils with volatile energy, this closer breathes. Turdean’s voice, still wounded but steadier now, floats over a subtly shimmering instrumental bed. It’s acceptance as quiet surrender, the kind that feels more real than any dramatic goodbye ever could.

A close second is 'Remind Me When You Return', a musical panic attack in the best way. Jittery percussion rides alongside jagged guitar lines, evoking the kind of nervous anticipation that comes with knowing you’re still checking your phone for someone who’s already gone. It captures that disorienting stage between denial and bargaining, when every vibration feels like it might be them, but never is.

'5 SONGS TO GET OVER YOU' doesn’t pretend to have the answers. Instead, it offers solidarity in the storm. Tristan Turdean lets the mess show, the emotion boil over, then slowly lets it cool. This is healing in motion, delivered in five punches and one deep breath.
