What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

I think it was the flute! The guitar took over right after that.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

A lot of Britpop and American Rock when I was a teenager. I discovered Bowie, The Beatles, Joni Mitchell and '80s synthpop right after. A lot of different things basically!

What was the first album you remember owning?

'Up all Night' by East 17. The artwork was holographic and so catchy!

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

Oh... so many songs. But I'll mention 'Why does it always rain on me?' by Travis.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

That's an interesting one. I don't think I've got any odd rituals. The only habit is bingeing on it. If I've got a new song in the making, I have to work on it straight away, I can't not do that. I'm scared the idea will just fade away.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

I've been listening to a lot of Kylie recently. My Spotify says my most listened to artists are Wolf Alice, Fontaines DC, Empress Of, Joesef and Christine and The Queens.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Ohhhhh, I think it would be Liam Gallagher or Wolf Alice.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

To see people connect with what you do. To receive messages from fans about how much a song you've written means to them. It gives me purpose.

And what is the most frustrating part?

Having to think about too many things that are not music-related. It kills the magic.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

Focus on the mission and what you’ve got to offer before you leave the planet. Don’t focus on external validation.
