What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

I consider my voice an instrument, and I’d definitely say I fell in love with singing. I took voice lessons growing up and my teacher trained me to properly use my voice with technique. I also enjoy playing guitar.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

When I was younger I loved pop music. I loved Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Rihanna. When I was real young my dad had me listening to a lot of classic rock and 80’s music. But I always loved singing pop and r&b music.

What was the first album you remember owning?

The first album I remember owning was Mariah Carey greatest hits.

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

I wish I could have written ‘Broken Clocks’ by SZA. Also basically the whole album ANTI by Rihanna.

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

I don’t really have any rituals. A lot of times I wake up out of my sleep with melodies and record them (half asleep) into my voice memos on my phone so I don’t forget them. I go back to them later and turn the melodies from when my brain was in a dream state into songs.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

Well I’m always listening to Rihanna. Recently I’ve been listening to SZA, Kehlani, Doja Cat, Remi Wolf. I also love pop music like Zara Larsson, Conan Gray, Tove Lo… There’s so many more that aren’t coming to me at the moment!

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

I would love to open for any of the artists listed above. Rihanna is my absolute favorite, so I guess I would say her.

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

The most rewarding thing about making music is that I absolutely love to do it. It makes me happy. Music excites me and makes me feel a way nothing else in this world does.

And what is the most frustrating part?

The frustrating part is that I have aspirations for where I would like my music career to be and I’m not there yet. But I’m working hard to get there every day.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

Some great advice I’ve received is to embrace who I am as an artist, and not try to make my music like anyone else’s. No one else can be me and that’s an amazing asset.
