What was the first instrument you fell in love with?

I played classical piano but my big passion, that got me into songwriting, was writing poetry and lyrics.

What kind of music did you love when you were younger?

Everything! It made no sense, from French Hip Hop to Pop, Rock, Folk.

What was the first album you remember owning?

Michael Jackson HISTORY

What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?

Mazzy Star – Fade Into You

Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?

Sometimes I just feel inspired (mostly in the gym, then I run back home to get to work quickly, or when I’m travelling), and sometimes I make a plan, e.g. I want to write an EP or an album and then I try to write daily until I have enough material. I also wrote a lot of songs just to practise new chords or try out different genres etc.

Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?

Bonobo, Julianna Barwick, Christian Löffler, Jon Hopkins.

If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?

Róisín Murphy

What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?

To have an outlet for what I’m feeling and knowing I have a tool to express whatever is going inside and also to be part of a community. Music is such a connecting activity and I love collaborating with other artists, musicians, videographers, writers, etc.

And what is the most frustrating part?

Oh there are many playlists! Social media, the industry, it’s very competitive, hard to make money with it, and there’s a constant feeling of inferiority … which I think also pushes you to want to do better and improve.

And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?

Your only goal as an artist should be to reach your potential, that’s more than enough … the outcome doesn’t matter, you have little control over that.
