After delivering a bold and exciting array of belters these last few years, Canadian singer-songwriter Jesse Slack returns once again to offer up his blistering new single 'Oughta Be Outlawed'.
Channelling more of that raw and driven country-rock direction he is known for, 'Oughta Be Outlawed' makes for a brilliantly enticing listen. Filled with bold and euphoric hooks, a soaring atmosphere, and infectious vocals throughout, this new one will have you pumping your fists from start to finish.
So with the new single available to stream now, we sat down with him to find out more about his background and what has inspired him most over the years.

What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
Guitar, I fell in love with old school country chicken pickin’ there is something about the twang of a Fender Telecaster that had me hooked!
What kind of music did you love when you were younger?
I grew up with my dad playing classic rock and my mom always playing country music on the radio. I found myself having a love for both styles but 90’s country music stays branded on my soul.
What was the first album you remember owning?
Barenaked Ladies - Gordon
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
New Kid In Town - The Eagles - It’s lyrical perfection and has such an infectious melody in my opinion.
Do you have any habits or rituals you go through when trying to write new music?
I like to listen to what is new, I try to immerse myself in other genres of music to create fresh melody and lyrics for the genre I am writing in that day.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
I have been listening to lots of Jackson Dean and Eric Church at the moment.
If you could open a show for anyone in the world, who would it be?
Willie Nelson
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
When someone reaches out and tells you how much they connect with one of the songs I have written.
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
The best advice I have gotten and the best advice I feel like I give is to be authentic and just be yourself! The minute you are true to yourself and you are authentically you, you competition decreases exponentially.
