Over the last few years, we have watched as Maisie Peters grew from a warm and humble name emerging on the pop scene to one of the most in-demand artists of the last year. Her fresh and dynamic approach to her sound has given her a unique status as a commercially-focused artist that still maintains an underground edge. And after a string of single and EP releases over the last few months, she finally breaks the first major milestone of her career so far with the release of her long-awaited debut album 'You Signed Up For This', a record that reaffirms her place on top on the pop pile.
Throughout the years, Maisie Peters has been revered for her songwriting, but sometimes felt like then production behind her work needed more of a guiding light. Thankfully she found that in Ed Sheeran who not only signed her to his own label, but made sure she was able to record the full-length we all knew she was capable of. From the start, 'You Signed Up For This' is a bright and euphoric release that always looks for the next interesting avenue to explore. Her distinctive voice rides a flurry of warm and sweeping hooks that show she is just as comfortable with the big anthems as the humble swoons.
It has been a long time coming, but 'You Signed Up For This' has certainly been worth the wait. Not since Taylor Swift has an artist come along to shake up the conventions of pop music for the better, and with tunes as good as this, we can see a great future for her in the years to come too.
