The Animal Objective - 'Creature Law'

8/10

Over these last few months, emerging outfit The Animal Objective have been busy crafting a bold and distinctive direction to call their own. Sitting somewhere between the unpredictable energy of Devo and the more rumbustious moments of Primus, their sound has this wonderfully inventive appeal to it, something that is extremely rare for a band looking to make their first moves on the scene. And with their inventive spirit still riding high, they deliver their hotly-tipped debut EP 'Creature Law', a collection that looks to bring all of those unbridled textures under one roof.

Exploding out of the gates with the instantly impactful opener 'Milky Sand And Soil', it is clear right from the off that 'Creature Law' is going to be a wildly enjoyable listen. From there, the band look to hone their more dynamic endeavours, exploring this multitude of diverse directions and atmospheres to show the range of their vibrant style to date. Whether they are looking to engage us with funk-filled grooves or explosive hooks as it plays, The Animal Objective are always seeking that surprising edge with everything they do, something that really keeps us on our toes as it plays.

It may be their only release to date, but 'Creature Law' is certainly looking to leave a lasting impression with anyone who comes across it. Completely unforgettable and irreverent throughout, The Animal Objective are certainly ones to keep a firm eye on for the months ahead as well.
