Friedberg - 'YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH'

8/10

Ever since they released their breakthrough single 'Pass Me On' in the middle of last year, London-based outfit Friedberg have become one of the most desired new bands of the moment. With their bold and vibrant direction cemented throughout everything they have delivered since, it has become clear that they are well on their way to becoming one of the most in-demand groups of the moment. So it only seems fitting that they drop their first body of work right in the midst of the hype as their debut EP 'YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH' reinforces everything we have come to love about them so far.

While this new EP could be seen as just a compilation of their material to date, 'YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH' still has this incredibly dexterous texture to it. While their hit 'Pass Me On' opens up proceedings in style, there is a boundless amount of creativity that arrives with what comes next. Not looking to follow too closely in anyone's footsteps, this initial release is more of a statement about where they are as a band right now. Each cut has its own distinct intention to it, leaving this five-track collection a far more diverse listen than we were originally expecting.

There is no denying that Friedberg are firmly on their way to great things over the next few years, and 'YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH' is just the confirmation that we needed. A strong and confident release that shows us exactly what they are capable of, both with songwriting and sonic flair.
